Mismatch

Beams of the yellow sun began to subdue as the gray sky made its heavy presence felt

I walked along the busy street against the flow of passersby

My strides refusing to proceed, as if struggling to whisper me something

But my ears were drowning in the honking noise and the senseless chitchat

Distracted by a familiar silhouette in my periphery

Someone waiting, growing ever more impatient as the clock ticked ever more loudly

I was where I had to be, but her wait was for everything else except me

I walked along as my mind wandered and basked in a beautifully painful nostalgia
